Our February SWORN meeting was very interesting with two of our members speaking, Chris Donnolo cdonnolo@Luzerne.edu and
Linda Worthington, Linda.Worthington@lpl.com .

Christine Donnolo, Associate Dean, Continuning Education at Luzerne County Community College was very interesting as she explained the available options for continuing education. She proudly exclaimed, that Luzerne County Community College is the largest college in Northeastern Pa. The college was just awarded $1.7 million dollars Dept. of Labor Grant in certain fields calling it "Careers on the Move" and there is also a $100.00 grant for individuals 50 years and older. The program is called, "Plus 50" The money is to be used towards a Career Training Program. Anyone looking for a career change can certainly benefit from speaking with Christine. Please contact her at, cdonnolo@Luzerne.edu

Our next scheduled meeting is March 9th, 2010. Any business women wishing to join us please contact one of our members and they will be more that happy to bring and introduce you to this dynamic group of business women. Your first breakfast is free and it is one you will certainly enjoy! Last month we had "make your own waffles" with fresh whipped cream and strawberries along with the usual scrumptious breakfast buffet. The Inn at Nichols Village 8:00 am.

Our Spring benefit is off to a great start. Stay tuned for more details on this most important event. The poor animals need us! Let's make this a great success. We are working on the music, food, drinks and animals who will be present.

SWORN is growing. We have quite a few new members so far this year and we welcome all of you.

SWORN (Scranton Women's Organization for Referral Networking)

The organization was founded in August 2005 by Amy Early Clegg. The meetings were first held at Perkins Restaurant in Dickson City, Penna. and have since moved to and presently held at The Inn at Nichols Village in Clarks Summit, Penna. The group meets the second Tuesday of each month with the exception of August. Meetings start at 8:00 a.m.

There is only one women per profession allowed to join the organization at a given time. Should a professional position open up, a new member is free to join. The dues are $120.00 per year. A free breakfast is served at every meeting.

SWORN is comprised of Business Women making a difference in the community by running various fundraisers for worthy local causes, all of which 100% of the proceeds are donated to the charities. By running these functions for charity and involving the public, the members of SWORN socialize with each other in a relaxed setting. This being the case, each member can freely refer each member of SWORN in their prospective businesses to new clients. She knows and can attest to their personalities and work ethics by bonding with them in a structured forum and a one on one basis.
